Overview
Are you a qualified Pharmacy Technician with an interest in working in Mental Health Services? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our expanding pharmacy team, delivering comprehensive clinical pharmacy services across both community and inpatient mental health settings.
Responsibilities
* Support and further develop the clinical pharmacy service within CYPMHS.
* Deliver medicines reconciliation and discharge planning for patients.
* Provide patient counselling and medicine supply services.
* Assist with the use of EPMA and medicines informatics systems.
* Complete physical health checks for children and young people on psychotropic medication.
* Contribute to audits and support teaching and training activities.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across inpatient and community settings.
Qualifications
Essential
* NVQ Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians or equivalent.
* Registered with the GPhC.
* Knowledge of medications management policies and legislation acquired through formal education and specialist training.
* Full, valid UK driving licence and access to a car/vehicle for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
Desirable
* Accredited medicines‑management qualification.
* Accredited accuracy‑checking qualification.
* Basic life support or first aid training.
* Experience working with children or in mental health settings.
* Education and training of pharmacy staff and other health care professionals.
* Good understanding of the issues affecting mental‑health prescribing.
* Project management skills.
Experience
* Minimum of 12 months post‑qualification experience.
* Experience working within a clinical ward environment.
* Experience working across organisational boundaries, linking primary and secondary care.
* Interest in children and young people’s mental health.
Knowledge and Skills
* Advanced IT literacy, especially Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
* Good understanding of primary and secondary care.
* Ability to work as part of a team and independently to short deadlines.
* Strong practical problem‑solving skills.
* Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
* Capability to plan, organise and prioritise workload.
* Ability to coordinate multiple complex activities and adjust plans as required.
Benefits
High‑Cost Area (HCA) Allowance – 5% of basic salary, with a minimum payment of £1,346 per year and a maximum of £2,270 per year (annual amount divided into 12 equal monthly payments).
