Description Key Responsibilities Leading with Care and Purpose • Be the key driving force behind care and health provision across the school. • Coordinate, review and monitor Individual Healthcare Plans (IHPs), ensuring they’re person-centred, accurate and empowering. • Work in close partnership with families, health professionals and colleagues to ensure pupils’ health needs are known, respected and consistently met. High-Quality, Compassionate Care • Support and participate in the delivery of medication, interventions and procedures in line with pupil care plans. • Champion safety, privacy and dignity in all aspects of personal and health care. • Ensure risk assessments are thorough, up-to-date and responsive to individual needs. • Log and track all care records, incidents and medication using relevant and appropriate systems. • Lead calmly and confidently during medical incidents or emergencies, ensuring robust procedures are followed. Empowering Staff • Identify training needs and ensure high-quality, accredited training for staff on medical procedures and care routines is undertaken and updated as required. • Track training records and staff competencies to ensure confidence and compliance across the team. • Provide coaching, support and reassurance to staff delivering medical support to pupils with complex needs. • Ensure staff are never working beyond their level of training—and feel confident to ask for help when needed. Safe, Legal and Inclusive Practice • Make sure everything we do aligns with national guidance, the SEND Code of Practice, Equality Act and Children and Families Act. • Keep health-related policies and procedures under regular review, adapting to best practice and pupil needs. • Ensure IHPs, risk assessments and emergency protocols are robust, practical and understood by those who need them. • Support the school’s safeguarding and wellbeing culture—raising concerns promptly and professionally. • Respect confidentiality, dignity and pupil voice in all aspects of the role. Working With Others You will work closely with: • Pupils and their families • Assistant Headteacher (Provision & SEND), DSL and SLT • Teaching Assistants and therapy staff • External professionals including CCNs, epilepsy nurses and physiotherapists We are committed to safeguarding children and the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and will be assessed against the Childcare Disqualification Regulations.
