This role is vital in our homes, the night support officer ensures the safety, security and well‑being of our young people during the night from 10pm-8am. The role involves:
* Staying awake to monitor the young person's safety and well‑being through the night.
* Providing emotional support if required.
* Maintaining security of the home.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
* Supervision & Welfare: Conducting regular, consistent checks on young people throughout the night to ensure they are safe and logging these checks.
* Emotional Support: Providing reassurance to the young person if they wake up or are upset and helping them regulate their emotions.
* Safety & Security: Maintaining a safe environment and security of the home.
* Record Keeping: Completing clear, factual and timely logs.
* Domestic Tasks: Undertaking light cleaning, laundry and preparing the home for the following day.
* Being Response: Managing any issues and making dynamic risk assessments if situations arise.
* Night support officers always have another member of staff in the home (sleep in duty) with them for support if and when needed.
