We are xpate — a Riga-born fintech building smart payment and banking infrastructure to connect the fragmented payments industry. Your role at xpate: Own and manage disputes end-to-end. As a Dispute Officer, you’ll protect our merchants and platform by handling chargebacks efficiently, applying scheme rules accurately, and helping reduce dispute and fraud risk across our payment ecosystem. Your main focus will be to: Manage the full chargeback lifecycle across Visa and Mastercard, including pre-chargebacks, representment, pre-arbitration, arbitration, and collaboration alerts. Review daily chargeback reports and transaction data to identify new disputes and act within scheme timelines. Monitor open cases and ensure all required actions are completed before deadlines. Coordinate with merchants and internal teams to resolve disputes efficiently. Maintain accurate chargeback records in internal systems, tracking statuses and outcomes. Guide merchants on effective dispute responses and assist with preparing supporting documentation. Perform root cause analysis to identify trends, patterns, and recurring chargeback drivers. Support monitoring of chargeback and fraud ratios to mitigate risk and avoid scheme monitoring programs. Collaborate closely with Compliance, Customer Support, and Finance teams on dispute handling and reporting. Contribute to process improvements, including testing and rollout of tools to automate and streamline dispute workflows. Stay up to date with Visa and Mastercard dispute rules, applying them consistently and accurately. We’re ready to meet you, if… You have 1.5–2 years of experience in chargeback or dispute management within an acquiring or PSP environment. You have solid working knowledge of Visa and Mastercard dispute resolution rules and workflows. You’ve been involved in process optimisation or automation related to dispute handling. You’re highly organised, able to manage deadlines and multiple cases simultaneously. You’re analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with transaction data. You communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally. You’re fluent in English. You’re comfortable working independently while collaborating in a fast-paced fintech environment.
