MCR Operations Engineer – 12 months FTC
To provide technical support to internal and external customers to improve service performance and protect network availability.

Accountabilities
* Use monitoring and control systems to control, configure and operate equipment, systems, networks and platforms, directly and remotely.
* Provide network monitoring and event management through the Operation Support Systems (OSS) in line with Service Level Agreements and network availability figures.
* Take corrective action and ensure incidents are directed to the correct resolver group to secure rapid resolution.
* Enter accurate incident reports/logs and service details/schedules into the system and track reported incidents to satisfactory resolution.
* Drive the resolution of service affecting events, creating incidents, applying technical and engineering knowledge and escalating to appropriate resolver groups where necessary.
* Communicate maintenance schedules of Arqiva’s in life products and services to internal and external stakeholders.
* Operate customers’ services as part of the team of MCR Operations Engineers.
* Assist in operation of managed services to Service Level Agreement.
* Report equipment and system problems, and draft incident reports.
* Control, configure and operate equipment directly and remotely using monitoring and control systems.
* Report service details to customers.
* Log service details.
* Monitor services carried by Arqiva.
* Switch feeds.
* Specific services responsibilities as requested.
* Initiate call-out and fault escalation procedures.
* Occasional maintenance and project work.
* Contribute to the information systems in the MCR.
* Carry out any tasks commensurate with your post as directed by the Team Leader.
* Work as part of a 24-hour operational team including regular weekend and night working.
* Work irregular hours as dictated by the needs of the business.
* Travel to other Arqiva facilities or to customer premises.
Experience and Expertise
* Familiar with broadcast system standards and waveform measurements (SDI, AES/EBU, MPEG/ASI, HD, Dolby).
* Knowledge of satellite RF systems and associated technologies such as DVB-S/S2.
* Good telephone manner.
* Strong interpersonal skills when dealing with customers and third parties.
* Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment as part of a small group.
* Capability to prepare clear and concise fault reports.
* Clear understanding of relationships throughout the satellite industry between Arqiva, satellite operators and customers.
* TCP/IP knowledge desirable.
* Service & Incident management methods knowledge (INFRA).
* Experience of automated monitoring solutions (SMTP, Closed Contact, Applications and principles).
* Exceptional organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
* Good IT skills.
