The Company
BoobyBiome is transforming infant health by delivering the breast milk microbiome to all babies. Our research-driven innovations aim to improve early-life health outcomes. BoobyBiome's first product is a baby bottle device designed to protect the beneficial bacteria in expressed breast milk. We are also developing a synbiotic for formula-fed infants.
The Role
Boobybiome is looking for a graduate with a degree in a Biological discipline to join our small team as a lab technician to support our product R&D. This role will involve making and maintaining lab stocks of media and reagents, performing PCRs on bacterial samples, performing DNA extractions, collecting breast milk samples from consenting donors and performing discovery experiments with these samples, ordering consumables and monitoring stocks of supplies, growing bacteria strains from BoobyBiome’s biobank to be utilised in experiments by Senior Scientists, and attending company data meetings. This is an entry level position with potential for progression and additional responsibilities, so while we are looking for a candidate with proficiency in basic lab skills, years of research experience is not required.
The Candidate
Essential qualifications and experience:
* Minimum BSc in a Biological discipline
* Practical experience in a laboratory setting
* Confidence with standard molecular techniques and microbiology techniques
* Good organisational, time management and record-keeping skills
* Demonstrates good initiative, is proactive and able to think independently
* Interest in microbiology, the breast milk microbiome and infant health
* Must have the right to work in the UK
