Job Title: Trainee Mortgage Underwriter / Advisor Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £27,500 per year, rising to £30,000 upon completion of CeMAP 1 & 2 Location: Macclesfield Town Centre Schedule: Monday to Friday | 38.5 hours per week | No weekends Job Summary An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Mortgage Advisor to join a growing mortgage team based in Macclesfield. This is an office-based role (with hybrid working under development) offering full training, a clear development pathway, and a fully funded CeMAP qualification. Key Responsibilities * Make outbound calls to clients to discuss mortgage options (First and Second Charge) * Provide regulated mortgage advice based on client needs and circumstances * Underwrite loan applications using data from credit checks, fact finds, and other sources * Assess client affordability and calculate repayment plans * Match client needs with lender criteria * Support team members as required * Work towards performance targets while maintaining compliance standards Requirements * Experience in outbound sales or a target-driven role * Excellent telephone manner and communication skills * Ability to understand and explain complex procedures clearly * Strong analytical and organisational skills * Comfortable working in a regulated financial environment * Willingness to complete the CeMAP qualification (fully funded) * Minimum of A-level education (or equivalent) preferred Desirable * Previous experience in mortgages, underwriting, or financial services * Familiarity with credit reports and lender criteria * Good IT skills and adaptability to new systems Benefits * Starting salary of £27,500, increasing to £30,000 after CeMAP 1 & 2 * Bonus scheme * Fully funded CeMAP training * Company pension * Death in service benefit * Casual dress code * On-site parking * Office-based with hybrid working planned * Supportive and dynamic team environment Working Hours * Monday to Wednesday: 10:00am – 7:00pm or 9:00am – 5:00pm (rotation) * Thursday: 9:00am – 6:30pm * Friday: 9:00am – 5:00pm * No weekend work required To apply, please submit your CV and a brief cover letter outlining your interest in the role
