Democratic Services Officer
An exciting opportunity has become available to work within the Democratic Services Team at Cheshire East Council over a 12-month period, covering maternity leave.
About you:
You will support the effective delivery of democratic and governance functions at Cheshire East Council. In this varied and fast-paced role, you will support the Council’s formal decision-making processes, helping to ensure that meetings are well organised, lawful, transparent and accessible.
You will be responsible for preparing and publishing agendas and reports, attending meetings, producing accurate minutes and providing advice on constitutional and procedural matters. You will also support Elected Members in carrying out their roles and contribute to maintaining high standards of governance and public accountability.
As part of a busy Democratic Services team, you will work with colleagues across multiple services, manage competing priorities, and help ensure statutory and internal deadlines are met.

The successful candidate will have:
1. Experience of working in a local government environment, supporting decision-making and governance processes.
2. The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment managing competing priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear agendas, minutes and reports.
4. Confidence in working professionally with a range of stakeholders including Elected Members, Senior Officers and internal colleagues.
5. Good organisational and administrative skills, with a proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving.
6. Confidence using IT systems and Microsoft Office applications (experience of Modern.Gov/Issue Manager is desirable but not essential).
