SEND & Exam Access Arrangements Assessor

Join a dedicated Additional Learning Support Team working to empower learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Reporting to the Head of Additional Learning and High Needs Support, you’ll collaborate with families, schools, and external agencies to design and deliver personalised support plans — from pre-entry through to progression.
You’ll be responsible for implementing specialist exam access arrangements, ensuring learners have the necessary support in place throughout their studies. This role is vital in enabling learners to access education, college facilities, and wider activities.
Responsibilities include:
* Conducting specialist assessments (e.g. WRATs) and producing JCQ-compliant reports
* Screening ALS disclosures and conducting support appointments
* Recommending strategies based on EHCPs, referrals, and learner needs
* Collaborating with internal/external stakeholders to identify support needs
* Ensuring ALS plans are deployed across curriculum and support teams
* Preparing support documentation and liaising with colleagues
* Coordinating exam access arrangements with Exams Teams
* Maintaining accurate records using college systems
* Delivering discreet support sessions and assistive tech workshops
* Liaising with educational psychologists and external agencies
* Supporting training delivery across ALS and college teams
* Attending intervention meetings and contributing to support strategies
* Flexibly supporting learners, including evenings/weekends as needed
Candidate requirements:
* Sound knowledge and qualification in the area of SEND and health-related issues
* A minimum of Level 2 Literacy & Numeracy
* Up-to-date safeguarding, Prevent & E&D training
* Professionalism, empathy, and excellent communication skills
* Experience handling sensitive information and challenging behaviour
* Ability to work collaboratively across departments
* Commitment to safeguarding policies and promoting a safe learning environment
* Enhanced DBS within the last three years required
