Job Summary
We have a new exciting and career-defining opportunity for an Engineer – Design, Analysis & Prototyping – to join our growing Hydrogen Systems Engineering team. This role will support determining gaps in technology, materials, capability or process maturity, and identifying ways to rapidly address these gaps in a practical sense (across technology, manufacturing, test). Appropriate plans & strategies will be defined and executed to mature technologies which will involve a combination of Design, hand calculations/computational analysis, and physical creation/testing. The role will be based at our Bristol GTC, however travel will be expected including occasionally internationally.
How You’ll Contribute
This is a multi-discipline role responsible for supporting the prototyping within the development of the hydrogen systems portfolio. It will involve delivering prototypes and physical demonstrations and tests to prove out and enable successful technology V&V within the programme.
Responsibilities
* Design engineering – 3D modelling and DMU management in a PDLM environment
* Practical application – lead small projects and support shop floor activities with an ability to project manage
* Develop calculations from first principles
* Computational analysis using packages such as Comsol
* Act as an innovative problem solver with good influencing and presentation skills
* Working in an environment with ambiguity, building models with limited or incomplete requirements
What You’ll Bring
Essential
* Bachelor or Master Degree in relevant engineering discipline
* At least 3 years of relevant experience gained within Engineering (Design, Systems engineering, R&D, manufacturing, Aircraft development, Cryogenics)
* Experience working with 3D design and DMU/drawing generation
Desirable
* Experience working with Catia V5 and PDLM systems especially DMU modelling
* Systems engineering experience with validation and verification programmes, including test
* Practical application (Experience working with suppliers, working on shop floor, basic machining and manufacturing processes)
* Knowledge of cryogenic design principles
* Experience of test practices, data acquisition, V&V
