Head of Business
September 2026, Full‑time, permanent. The Business Department is part of the Humanities Faculty comprising Geography, History, Religion & Philosophy, Politics, Psychology, Economics and Classics. We aim to create a culture of passion and enthusiasm for Business within the classroom and to develop a wider appreciation of its relevance to everyday life.
Curriculum and Results
We follow the Edexcel course for Business at both A Level and GCSE. A Level results in 2025 were 42% at A and 71% at A/A‑.
Extra‑Curricular Activities
* Annual trip for Lower Sixth students to RSM, Guildford.
* Visits to local manufacturing sites for GCSE students.
* Lead role in the delivery of the Churcher's College Academic Lecture Series (CCALS).
* Annual Year 9 enterprise challenge day.
* Participation in the Entrepreneurship Essay Competition 2024 run by the Entrepreneurship Lab at King's College, Cambridge.
Responsibilities
* Strategically manage all aspects of teaching and learning, administration and marketing of the department.
* Clear, coherent communication in the classroom, using a variety of resources and adopting a variety of teaching styles to suit student needs.
* Establish a good classroom rapport through high standards of discipline and academic expectations, fairness and consistency.
* Engage in current affairs and keep abreast of national economic developments.
* Proactive use of IT.
* Work as part of a team.
* Reliable, punctual and organised.
* Retain a sense of humour and perspective.
* Participate in the enrichment of the subject and the wider life of the school outside the classroom.
Qualifications
* Well qualified graduates, able to teach A Level & GCSE Business.
