We are looking to appoint a Education and Welfare Support Officer for 37 Hours per Week, on a Term Time only basis to join our team at The Compass Academy. Compass Academy is a unique KS3 Alternative Provision in Hull that supports pupils with a variety of needs from Hull and outer areas. Many of our pupils have been permanently excluded from their mainstream schools' and/or require specialist support to enable pupils with identified SEND needs to access education. A large number of our cohort have experienced a range of early childhood traumas which impacts on a child's emotional wellbeing and ability to regulate their behaviour. Many of our pupils present with complex needs and as such, require high levels of specialist support and intervention. The Education Welfare Support Officer will support in leading the Pastoral team in dealing with incidents of safeguarding, inappropriate behaviour and providing emotional support, advice and guidance. This role is to further strengthen our existing support networks for pupils/families to help them to achieve their full potential and overcome barriers to learning, access education and thrive in life. The suitable candidate will require a wealth of experience in managing complex safeguarding concerns and maintain a commitment to promoting the welfare of all of our pupils and families. A proven track record of working in a multi agency approach is also essential to ensure that our pupils/families receive the highest level of care and support. Within the whole school structure, the successful candidate will act in the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, under the line management of the Academy's Assistant Vice Principal and Principal.
