About the role
An experienced Patient Safety Manager to join our team part‑time (3 days per week) across the Midlands and North West regions of England – Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Stockton‑on‑Tees. This hybrid role offers flexibility but requires regular travel, including occasional overnight stays.
Job summary
You will promote a strong culture of safety, ensure high standards of care and support continuous improvement across Integrated Urgent Care services, including 111, out‑of‑hours, clinical assessment services and GP practices.
Main duties
* Lead development and implementation of the Practice Plus Group Quality Governance strategy.
* Develop systems of work to influence measurement and evidence‑based continuous quality improvement and assurance.
* Lead quality governance activities across the assigned region throughout the patient journey.
* Support the implementation of the NHS England Patient Safety Strategy through the development of the local quality governance agenda.
* Manage local programmes and organise quality governance activities.
* Provide subject matter expertise to investigations.
* Identify opportunities for organisational learning and quality improvement.
* Lead and co‑ordinate key areas that contribute to ensuring services are safe, effective and patient centred.
Person specification
Essential qualifications
* Degree level education or equivalent extensive professional knowledge of Quality Governance, quality control and assurance.
* Knowledge of UK health services or delivery of healthcare.
* Demonstrable experience in two or more of the following areas: data management systems, data management and analysis, quality audit, risk management, quality effectiveness, research and development, standards review/development.
* Experience leading external visits/accreditation by external agencies.
* Experience managing and leading teams.
* Ability to allocate, manage and prioritise workload, ensuring national and organisational guidelines are met and deadlines adhered to.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, able to demonstrate a professional attitude under pressure with conflicting interests.
Desirable
* Experience in governance and quality improvement initiatives, leading and influencing patient safety practices across multiple sites.
* Experience in stakeholder engagement with internal teams and external partners such as Integrated Care Boards.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
