About UsHays are working with a organisation in the Exeter area who are seeking a Assistant Accountant to join their growing finance team. Key ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Financial and Management Accountant, you will be responsible for:
1. Daily posting of payments/receipts and reconciliation of cash/bank accounts
2. Producing, recording, and uploading sales invoices
3. Reconciling debtor accounts and managing the sales ledger, including debt chasing via phone/email
4. Inputting purchase invoices and ensuring VATpliance
5. Assisting with payment runs and supplier payments
6. Supporting month-end processes, including journals and reconciliations for management accounts
7. Processing new jobs/client accounts and maintaining the internal project database
8. Preparing cost updates for client projects
9. Assisting with general finance administration and reporting
10. Performing routine calculations and producing analyses as requested
11. Collaborating with the wider team to maintain high-quality reporting

Essential/Desirable Skills & Experience:
15. Ideally part-qualified accountant
16. Knowledge of financial controls, policies, and procedures
17. Experience with Sage (beneficial but not essential)
18. Strong IT skills, ideally including Microsoft Office Suite
19. Excellent time management and ability to prioritise a changing workload
20. A true team player with strong relationship-building skills
