Our client Scottish Power Renewables are currently recruiting for an Offshore H&S Advisor to join their team based in Lowestoft on a contract basis initially. Ideally for this role they are looking for an experienced Offshore H&S Advisor who has their NEBOSH as well as having detailed knowledge of offshore construction health and safety best practice. For more information on this role see below: Main Purpose of Job The Offshore Health and Safety (HS) Advisor provides HS support to the various Offshore Construction Teams and Packages focused on numerous Offshore Construction locations related to the Project. The Individual will conduct periodic and regular visits to provide specialist HS support, advice and guidance to site/package personnel as well as interact with the Contractor Vessel, Site and HS Management teams and other external / internal stakeholders. The Offshore HS Advisor will conduct audits/inspections across a range of Construction Locations, predominantly offshore, Quayside, related to the Project and feedback observations, actions and opportunities for improvements to drive HS best practice across Project activities. The role will also require the individual to drive and participate in behavioural safety initiatives, inventive schemes, campaigns, and other related activities. Key Tasks • Travel to and support Offshore Construction locations (predominantly vessels) across East Anglia in relation to the Project with in-person visits and shore-based support. This will be predominantly Inspections/Audits. These locations are where the Offshore Windfarm is being installed. Support will also be required for pre-construction activities such as Site Survey / Investigation and Archaeological activities. • Support Offshore Construction/enabling locations, such as marshalling facilities, as required. • Engage, in person and via TEAMS with 5-6 tier 1 Contractors' Site and Health and Safety Management team as well as tier 2 subcontractor management structures. • Support Offshore Construction Teams Offshore as well as office-based Engineering / Management personnel in matters of HS such as Risk management/assessment, project document development Cultural Safety improvement. • Support documentation review of Contractor activities across work-scope. Key Criteria • Detailed knowledge of Offshore Construction Health and Safety Best Practice • NEBOSH Qualification • Working knowledge of Environmental considerations in Offshore Construction • Understanding of the core the methodology of Offshore Turbine/Foundation, Converter / Substation and Export Cable Installation such as Installation, Heavy Lifts, Cable installation, HV / LV Commissioning. • Ability to critically review Contractor methodology and planning documentation from a HS perspective to ensure safe working practices are applied. • Ability to influence personnel across a range of cultures, experiences, and geographic locations so as to drive adoption of HS best practice • Ability to internalise Project / Business requirements and standards so as to hold contractors to a high HS standard • Experience in mentoring personnel (both internal and external) on HS improvement do drive cultural change. • Experience in working with personnel at a senior level within Contractor organisations • Understanding of and ability to generate Risk Assessments to support internal personnel site based activities. • Experience in rolling out Safety Campaigns to site locations, presenting to large groups of personnel • Experience in working in a remote environment from site locations, communicating with personnel across other office / site locations via TEAMS. • Ability to continually and effectively promote: o safety leadership within the project teams by making the appropriate interventions to prevent unsafe situations or unacceptable risks being taken o Safety Management as an integrated line management priority for all project planning and execution and o Safety relentlessly as a value, challenging traditional thinking where appropriate • Regimented focus to site visits and conducting audit / inspections • Ability to plan multiple sequential trips to site locations so as to delivery oversight requirements to relevant internal stakeholders • Coordinate with other internal stakeholders to ensure a unified approach to site access from SPR personnel. • Ability to regulate workload and work independent of direct management supervision • Manage time to ensure all internal stakeholders are supported effectively, including attending online or in person meetings, workshops and site visits as required Key Interfaces Internal: • Various internal Package management Turbine, Foundation, Inter-Array, Offshore Converter / Sub Station.
