The Company
A leading Tier 1 Main Contractor is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join its Welwyn Garden City office. You will work across a portfolio of major building projects within the London & Home Counties division, gaining exposure to a variety of construction methods and contract types, including JCT. The role is office based with regular site visits and the flexibility of hybrid working.
Responsibilities
* Assist the Commercial Lead with day‑to‑day quantity surveying and commercial management duties.
* Prepare and maintain accurate site records, cost reports, valuations, and subcontractor payments.
* Support procurement, cost control, forecasting, and contract administration.
* Ensure compliance with JCT contract requirements and internal commercial procedures.
* Work collaboratively with project, design, and site teams to support successful project delivery and financial performance.
* Contribute to value engineering, risk management, and commercial reporting.
The Right Person
* HNC or BSc in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
* Experience with a main contractor or subcontractor.
* Strong understanding of cost reporting, measurement, commercial processes, and JCT contracts.
* Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, team‑focused approach.
* Ambition to progress to Quantity Surveyor level with full training and support.
