In this role, you’ll collaborate with stakeholders across all levels—both internal and external—to bridge the gap between IT and the business. Your ability to understand business needs and processes, build strong relationships, and communicate effectively will be key to your success. You’ll play a pivotal role in strengthening the IT-business partnership, actively contributing to alignment initiatives and helping shape solutions that deliver real value.
What you’ll do
1. Works with business to align technology solutions with business goals and capture business requirements and needs to influence project decisions
2. Anticipates and translates business needs/strategies into IT requirements and source IT services to meet current and future requirements
3. Deliver customer journeys and define user requirements during project definition process
4. Promotes an understanding of IT roles, processes, and activities to the business, as well as acts as a marketer and communicator of IT services and capabilities
5. Understands and demonstrates to the business the value of proposed services and promotes usability standards
6. Collaborates with the customer to identify future demand, agreeing value proposition, timescales, and priorities
7. Performs pro-active analysis of business processes to highlight and achieve buy-in from business stakeholders
8. Leads formal and informal business engagement activities to provide a forum for mutual exchange of information
9. Performs analytical activities, such as business case development, benefit realisation, process mapping and service improvements
10. Liaises with other IS service groups to ensure timely communications of IT and key business events that may interrupt day to day operations
11. Consults with vendors and industry groups to understand potential future opportunities
12. Supports the handover of projects to operations support, as appropriate
13. Works with minimal supervision, using clearly defined processes and procedures
14. Facilitates the use of performance metrics to improve output
What to bring
15. Proven experience and understanding, and the execution of IT process frameworks and methodologies
16. Experiences in delivering Agile and Waterfall IT Projects / Improvements
17. Exposure to SAP, PI, Energy Components, Business Objects, SAP BI, SmartPlant EDW, Landmark, Schlumberger and other significant E&P applications
18. Organisational change management experience
19. Negotiation and influencing skills
20. Business Process Management and exposure to holding BPM workshops as part of requirement's identification
21. Previous IT oil and gas experience
22. Strong communications and networking skills
23. Highly developed influencing and interpersonal skills
24. Highly motivated and self-reliant problem solver
25. Enthusiastic with a questioning and challenging attitude
26. Ability to make rational decisions under pressure
27. Proven ability to build and maintain key business relationships
28. Multi-tasking abilities
29. Awareness of HSEQ Policies and Business Management System (BMS)
30. Professional Qualifications and/or practical experience: Business Analysis (IIBA) IT service management (ITIL, COBIT), project management (PRINCE2, APM, Agile)
