About this role
Our talented team at Smurfit Westrock East Kilbride continues to grow, and we are currently looking to recruit experienced Machine Operators to support our expanding operation.
We are particularly interested in candidates with previous experience operating machinery within manufacturing or packaging environments, such as but not limited to:
1. Book binding
2. Case making
3. Rigid packaging
4. Cartons
5. Die cutting machinery

Shift Pattern
We operate a customer‑led annualised roster, designed to flex with business demand across the year.
6. Typically 3 x 12‑hour shifts per week
7. Shifts may increase or decrease depending on operational requirements
8. The roster includes nightshift and weekend working
JOB PURPOSE:
To operate, maintain, and support the efficient running of all Rigid Box machinery ensuring consistent, high-quality output while meeting safety, efficiency, and quality standards.
9. Set up, operate, and maintain rigid box machines and all other rigid box manufacturing related machinery.
10. Abiding to all Health and Safety or Standard Operating Procedures set for the area of work, including the reporting of any faults or incidents.
11. Completing work to Company agreed standards, in a timely manner, whilst minimising any waste.
12. Request, receive and use the appropriate tooling required to run each job.
13. Perform routine and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
14. Carry out daily cleaning and routine maintenance of machines and work area.
15. Carry out machine changeovers and adjustments as required for different product runs.
16. Monitor production quality, identify non-conformities, and take corrective action.
17. Participate in continuous improvement activities and contribute ideas for process enhancement.
18. Maintain accurate machine and production records when using VWT and SFDC systems.
19. Maintain safe working practices on machinery.
20. Conformance to safe housekeeping standards, ensuring the work environment is clean and safe.
21. Communicate effectively with maintenance, quality, and supervisory staff regarding equipment performance.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
22. Ensuring machinery is operated within Health and Safety guidelines and departmental procedures
23. Recording production information in accordance with company requirements
24. Checking the job specification and identifying the materials required for the job
25. Ensuring that output meets the job specifications and company quality standards
26. Working as an effective team member to meet production requirements
27. Ensuring vigilance to any breakdowns and malfunctions, reporting them immediately to the correct person
28. Following company guidelines for the correct removal of waste
29. Ensuring that correct PPE is worn at all times.
30. Maximising efficiencies to achieve annual KPI targets
31. Continuous product quality control during machine run to ensure that all products and procedures meet the customer prescribed standards
32. Contribute to Improvements in key business fundamentals such as Safety / Quality / Cost / Delivery
