The International Mobile Applications organisation creates mission critical software for emergency first responders worldwide. Solutions are used by police, firefighters and paramedics to improve emergency services response. Our applications span client, server, web and database components across a range of device types. This role focuses on our UK Fire agencies solution.
Job Description
This role is hybrid, with work from offices and home. Ideally based in/around the Glasgow office. The Glasgow office is a worldwide centre of excellence for our mobile software development. The role offers a hybrid arrangement with some/most days at home and the office used for occasional in-person meetings and team days.
The role will lead a small team of approximately 7 software engineers, ranging from senior to junior. We are seeking a very strong software engineer who may have experience leading small, agile software engineering teams. The ideal candidate will act as a hands-on leader, contributing to the team\'s velocity by writing code, and guiding engineering practices, roadmaps and architectural design.
Responsibilities
* Lead a small team of approximately 7 software engineers (senior to junior).
* Act as a hands-on software engineer, contributing code and guiding engineering practices.
* Shape the engineering roadmap and architecture in collaboration with the team.
Qualifications
* A relevant university qualification such as a BSc Computing Science or BSc Software Engineering
* 7+ years of experience in commercial software engineering
* Full stack experience across front-end and back-end technologies
* Strong understanding of software design patterns for high performing, scalable software
* Strong communication and collaboration skills
* Ability to attain Non-Police-Personnel-Vetting Level 3 (NPPV3) with a minimum of 3 years UK residency
Desirable
* Experience leading software development teams
* Experience building high performing, scalable server applications (Java or C#)
* Experience architecting server/gateway applications and client/server communications
* Experience in an Agile environment (Scrum)
Nice To Have
* Web development experience (HTML, CSS, React)
* Experience developing mobile apps (Android/iOS) using Java, Kotlin, Objective-C or React Native
* Experience with .NET/Windows apps and Windows UI frameworks (e.g., WPF, WinUI)
