Are you a Health & Safety professional looking to make a genuine impact on a major civil engineering project? This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading contractor delivering high-profile infrastructure works in a unique island location.
The Opportunity
You’ll play a key role in driving safety, compliance, and best practice on a significant project currently in its site set-up phase, with main works commencing soon. The project will involve multiple subcontractors on site.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll oversee and develop junior Health & Safety Officers, bringing strong guidance and construction expertise—particularly from a civil engineering background.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, manage, and mentor on-site Health & Safety team members
* Develop, implement, and maintain robust H&S systems and procedures
* Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
* Ensure compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and industry best practice
* Deliver safety briefings, training, and toolbox talks
* Work closely with project and site teams to embed a strong safety culture
About You
* Proven experience in Health & Safety within civil engineering or infrastructure projects
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and guide junior staff
* Experience working with civil engineering contractors is desirable
* NEBOSH qualification
* Solid understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation
* Confident communicator with a proactive, hands-on approach
