About the Role
Leeds City College are seeking a SEND Team Leader to join our team in the Animal Care and Land Management department to start in September 2025. This role is part time - 22.2 hours a week over 3 days. The pro rata salary for this role commencing at £18,863 with progression to £20,609.
In this role you will lead on the support of students with Educational Health Care Plans (ECHP), SEND and ALS needs across the department. You will be an operational main point of contact with parents and curriculum staff, contribute towards positive outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable students. This role may also include the first line management and leadership of identified staff.
The School of Animal Care and Land Management offers a wide range of study programmes, apprenticeships and Higher Education (HE). From September we will be delivering courses from entry to level 6. Whilst this role will predominantly be working with Further Education (FE) students we will require the successful candidate to demonstrate flexibility and be able to work with a variety of learners.
This role will be predominantly be based at Temple Newsam but on occasion their might be the requirement to also work at other campuses such as Printworks or the University Centre. Whilst this role doesn't include any practical delivery the department is based in a working farm and historical estate, so the successful candidate should like animals and be comfortable in a land-based real work environment.
What You Will Do
1. Support with the annual review process by chairing meetings and completing paperwork that meets the local authority standards and within statutory timelines
2. Ensure delivery of support in line with assessed needs and funding
3. Support with evidence for funding claims for the campus
4. Lead on effective transition planning for students, ensuring both academic and non academic outcomes are achieved.
5. Work with the curriculum team on parental engagement.
6. Liaise with central team
About You
The successful candidate will:
7. Have a level 2 in english and maths
8. Hold a level 5 teaching or qualification or relevant SEND/Learning support related qualification or willingness to work towards
9. Have up to date knowledge and understanding of current SEND legislation/guidance related to transition, education, social care and health
10. Have extensive and proven experience of working with students who have high needs/SEND and the implementation of appropriate support strategies.
