Senior Grid Manager / Director
The Senior Grid Manager / Director is part of the technical team and oversees grid connection and integration activities during the development and construction phases of Independent Power Producer BESS, Wind and Solar projects for European markets, Greece, Poland, France, Finland, The Netherlands, Poland, Romania and also Americas (USA & Chile)
This role ensures that projects meet regulatory requirements, technical specifications, and timelines for grid interconnection. The position will collaborate with internal teams, utilities, and transmission operators to secure grid access and optimise grid-related infrastructure for renewable energy projects to maintain compliance, reliability, and profitability. This role provides an opportunity to grow the expertise of Grid Codes, compliance, and connection and operation in multiple jurisdictions to support ambition as a global IPP.
TherolewillbeLondonbased and sponsorship for International candidates is available. Fieldvisitstoproject sites with occasional travel to meet with utilities, regulators, and construction teams will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
GridIntegrationandInterconnectionPlanning:
1. ManagetheinterconnectionprocessforIPPprojectsfromdevelopmentthrough construction and Operations
2. Assessgridcapacity,interconnectionrequirements,andtechnicalfeasibilityforproject sites.
3. Collaboratewithutilities,transmissionoperators(TSOs),andregionalsystemoperators (ISOs) and or (DSOs) to secure interconnection agreements.
TechnicalandRegulatoryCompliance:
4. Ensurecompliancewithgridcodes,technicalstandards,andregulatoryrequirements for interconnection and energy delivery.
5. Coordinate grid studies withthird-party consultantsand utilities, suchas Solution studies,Systemdeliveryupgrades,shortcircuit,anddynamicstabilityanalyses.
6. Reviewandvalidateinterconnectionstudies and gridimpactassessments.
ProjectDevelopmentSupport:
7. Providegrid-relatedinputduring projectsite selection,consideringgridproximity, capacity, and costs.
8. Contribute to project feasibility studies byanalysinginterconnection constraints and costs.
9. Prepareandmanageinterconnectionbudgetsandschedulesforassignedprojects.
Construction Phase Oversight:
10. Withtheleadprojectmanager,overseethedesign,procurement,andinstallationofgrid interconnectioninfrastructure,includingsubstations,transmissionlines,andprotection systems.
11. Ensuretimelyconstructionandcommissioningofgridinfrastructuretomeetproject timelines. Coordinategridenergisation,testing,andcommissioningwithutilitiesand relevant stakeholders
StakeholderCollaboration:
12. Act as the primary liaison with utilities, TSOs, DSOs, and regulatory authorities for interconnection matters.
13. Represent the IPP in meetings, workshops, and negotiations related to interconnection and grid integration. Work with the Head of Construction, Senior Project Manager, and selected EPC to align grid-related deliverables with overall project goals.
RiskManagementandOptimization:
14. Identify risks related to grid access, interconnection delays, or costs and develop mitigation strategies.
15. Optimiseinterconnectionsolutionstominimise costs and enhance project performance.
16. Monitorandadapttoregulatoryorpolicychangesimpacting gridconnectionprocesses
Skills,Experience&Qualifications:
EducationandCertifications
17. Bachelor’sdegreeinelectricalengineering,PowerSystems,orarelatedfield.
18. Master’sdegreeinEnergySystemsorEngineeringpreferred.
19. ProfessionalEngineer(PE)licenseorCEngwithaleadingEngineeringSocietypreferred Certifications in grid management or renewable energy is preferred
Experience:
20. 10+ years of experience in grid interconnection, power systems, or renewable energy project development.
21. Grid Connection experience for various international markets
22. Grid Connection experience within the Development phase
23. Proven track record of managing grid connections for large-scale renewable energy projects (solar, Onshore Wind, BESS or hybrid).
TechnicalSkills:
24. Strongunderstandingofpowersystemdesign,gridcodes,andinterconnectionprocesses across International markets
25. Proficient in power systemmodelling or at least previous experience in analysistools (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, Power Factory).
26. Familiarity with SCADA systems, substation design, and high-voltage transmission systems.
