Job Description: Purpose We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Analyst / Supervisor to join the Indirect Tax team within our Tax department on an initial 12-18 month secondment. This role is responsible for assisting with various VAT compliance and reporting activities for TJX entities across our European business. There will be an opportunity to develop VAT technical knowledge as well as learn how transactions flow through our supply chain and the VAT implications of this. The associate undertaking this role must have the ability to work independently, show a high degree of curiosity and diligence and a willingness to learn. The role also requires effective business partnering, with both internal colleagues and external parties. Key Responsibilities Assist with, and eventually taking on, preparation of VAT returns, EC Sales Lists and Intrastat Declarations for our European entities Work closely with Tax colleagues to ensure submission and payment deadlines are met and associated queries are addressed Provide support on audits and controls, including information collection and data analysis to ensure timely responses to queries Build an understanding of TJX’s European business, supply chain and the off-price fundamentals Support colleagues with ad hoc advisory queries to provide advice on the VAT considerations for various business projects Support team to build and maintain business partner relationships internally (e.g. Finance, Logistics, IT, etc.) and externally (e.g. tax authorities, advisers, auditors, etc.) to obtain a strong understanding of the business and to ensure compliance obligations are accurately met Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience Part or fully qualified accountant / tax professional preferable Proficiency in understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits, balance sheet reconciliation, journal preparation, etc. Strong analytical skills required Understanding of, and capability in, using various I.T. tools – MS Excel required, Power Query / Alteryx helpful but not essential TJX Systems knowledge an advantage (e.g. Oracle, MOM suite, etc.) Operational accounting experience would be beneficial Ability to work independently, prioritise workload and meet deadlines Good interpersonal and communication skills Capable of developing relationships across all levels of the business As proud as we are of our past success, it’s our future that excites us most.
