This position is for an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a specialist interest in Fetal Medicine. The ideal candidate will have a strong obstetric focus, experience, and interest in fetal medicine and high-risk obstetrics.
This post can be tailored to be Obstetric only or to cover both Obstetrics and Gynaecology, depending on the applicant’s interests and training. It is a new position following consultant expansion, offering opportunities to further develop Fetal Medicine and obstetric services. The role involves working closely with the existing Fetal Medicine team.
Applicants should have completed CCT or equivalent (CESR) and be on the Specialist Register. The candidate should possess highly developed skills in fetal medicine and high-risk obstetrics, with drive and ambition to enhance the service. Ability to manage complex obstetric cases and collaborate with colleagues is essential.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical and administrative management of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department
2. Develop standards and procedures to ensure safe, high-quality patient care
3. Supervise junior medical staff through formal and informal teaching and supervision
4. Participate in educational programmes, clinical audits, and staff training
5. Maintain up-to-date job and personal development plans
6. Participate in CPD schemes with the RCOG
7. Provide advice to GPs on patient admission suitability
