About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our dynamic team focused on developing current and future datalink systems and their associated protocols. The role involves designing, implementing, and testing embedded software for real-time missile communication systems that facilitate over-the-air data exchange between missiles and platforms. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating closely with firmware, hardware, systems, and test engineers to deliver innovative solutions.
This position offers substantial hands-on development experience in a state-of-the-art environment, contributing to mission-critical defense systems. The role provides scope to influence the technical direction of datalink protocols, participate in full software lifecycle activities, and engage with international colleagues through potential travel and secondment opportunities. Working in a hybrid environment with four days on-site, you will have the chance to grow your career through training and development programs, with the possibility of progressing into technical or managerial leadership roles.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in hard real-time embedded software development
* Strong proficiency in C programming language
* Knowledge of mobile and satellite communication systems and protocols
* Understanding of modulation techniques and network architectures
* Experience with communication protocols such as SPI, UART, Ethernet, PCI-Express
* Familiarity with software design methodologies, including UML
* Experience in system integration and performance analysis
* Full software development lifecycle experience within Agile/SCRUM environments
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
* Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and maintain embedded real-time software for datalink systems
* Design software architecture and detailed technical specifications
* Conduct code reviews, testing, and verification activities to ensure software quality
* Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and systems engineers to integrate and optimize system performance
* Participate in requirements capture, technical discussions, and design reviews
* Contribute to continuous improvement of software processes and protocols
* Support system testing, troubleshooting, and validation activities
* Document technical work and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety requirements
* Engage with international teams and participate in potential travel or secondment opportunities
