* Build your caseload with support, not expected to bring work or hit the ground running alone
* Flexible hours (including school-friendly patterns), rare at this level
* Stable, down-to-earth Yorkshire firm with a strong pipeline of private client work
Based across North Yorkshire (with flexibility on office location), this role is ideal for a private client solicitor who wants to develop their career in a steady, well-supported environment, without the pressure or politics that can come with larger teams.
You’ll join a department that’s busy for the right reasons. There’s consistent demand, a strong local reputation, and a genuine need for another qualified solicitor to help strengthen the team. In your first few months, you’ll take on an existing caseload with support, get comfortable with systems and processes, and build relationships across the wider offices.
By the 12-month mark, you’ll be running your own caseload confidently and independently, trusted to handle matters with minimal supervision. The work is varied, wills, probate, LPAs and estates, with scope to get involved in more complex matters as your experience develops.
Longer term, this is about becoming a dependable, go-to fee earner within the team. There’s room to grow into more senior responsibilities, including mentoring or supporting junior colleagues, as the department continues to expand.
The culture is straightforward and people-focused. It’s collaborative, approachable and grounded, somewhere you can focus on doing good work, with support around you when you need it.
Who we’re looking for
* Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with 2–5 years PQE in Private Client
* Experience managing your own caseload
* Exposure to wills, probate, LPAs and estate administration (Desired)
* Experience with trusts or more complex estates (Desired)
* Strong drafting and technical skills
* Confident communicator with good client relationship skills
* Organised and able to manage workload independently
* Approachable, reliable and team-oriented
* Commercial awareness and willingness to develop (Desired)
What you’ll be doing
* Managing a private client caseload including wills, probate and LPAs
* Supporting senior solicitors on more complex matters where needed
* Drafting legal documents and advising clients clearly and practically
* Building relationships with clients and colleagues across offices
* Maintaining accurate file management, time recording and billing
* Ensuring compliance with SRA and internal processes
* Contributing to a stable, collaborative team environment
Salary & Benefits
* Competitive, market-rate salary depending on experience
* Flexible working hours, including school-friendly patterns
* Hybrid working potential after probation
* Option for part-time working
* Strong, consistent caseload with no pressure to generate your own work
* Supportive environment with accessible senior guidance
* Clear opportunity to grow into a more senior role over time
* Long-term stability within a respected regional firm
* Collaborative, non-corporate culture focused on retention and development
