We are seeking a Youth Mental Health Worker to work with an SEN school in the Maidenhead district.
The School
A specialist SEN school is looking for support staff to join their community in the upcoming academic year, starting September 2024. Psychology and criminology graduates seeking experience to prepare for careers in educational psychology or occupational therapy are encouraged to apply. The school caters to students with complex needs, learning disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges. It offers facilities such as sensory rooms, construction rooms, and art therapy areas. The successful Youth Mental Health Worker will help demonstrate how additional support can motivate students and keep them engaged with the curriculum.
The Job Role
The candidate must be willing to:
1. Work on a 1-1 basis or in small groups to support students with needs that cannot be met in mainstream education.
2. Act as a role model to students.
3. Provide behavioural and pastoral support.
4. Help students find solutions to daily dilemmas.
5. Identify areas for improvement and potential triggers for students.
6. Attend team meetings and discuss learning plans for students.
7. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and psychologists on-site to tailor the curriculum to each student's needs.
