I am recruiting for a QHSE Manager on behalf of my client based in Ilkley, and this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced QHSE Manager to take full ownership of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental compliance across a well-established manufacturing business.
This QHSE Manager role sits within the Operations function and reports directly to the Operations Director, playing a key part in driving standards, compliance and continuous improvement across the factory and offices.
As QHSE Manager, you will manage, support, train and advise managers and employees on all aspects of QHSE, ensuring a safe, compliant and high-performing environment across the site, with occasional travel (up to 10%) to customer and group locations as required. The QHSE Manager will be instrumental in leading the transition and implementation of an integrated management system and maintaining certification to recognised international standards.
As QHSE Manager, your responsibilities will include:
Leading the transition and implementation of an Integrated Management System compliant with ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 within agreed timescales
Managing and developing the QHSE team
Providing effective QHSE advice, guidance and training to managers and employees
Ensuring a safe workplace environment for employees, contractors and third parties
Managing risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work and ensuring clear communication across the business
Overseeing H&S induction processes for all stakeholders
Managing PPE selection, control, maintenance and monitoring
Implementing and managing internal Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Assurance audits
Ensuring all H&S policies, procedures and statutory requirements are adhered to, reviewed and updated
Managing statutory checks including LOLER, ATEX, electrical infrastructure, water systems, gas infrastructure, workplace monitoring, LEV checks, nitrogen pipeline, FLTs and First Aid arrangements
Ensuring accurate maintenance and inspection records are documented and accessible
Managing accident and near-miss reporting, investigations and corrective actions
Ensuring PGIs, fire drills and fire alarm checks are conducted and actions closed out
Maintaining accurate health and safety training records
Supporting employee screening programmes
Liaising with external H&S consultants, insurers and other stakeholders as required
Providing regular QHSE reports and KPI updates to senior leadershipTo be successful in this QHSE Manager position, you will have:
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a responsible QHSE Manager role within a manufacturing environment
Lead Auditor qualification with strong auditing experience (essential)
NEBOSH Certificate (essential) and working towards Diploma (desirable)
Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and QHSE compliance
Experience managing hazard identification and risk management processes
Experience leading H&S investigations
Multi-site QHSE oversight experience, including third-party sites
Experience designing and delivering QHSE training
Experience managing KPIs and performance data
Working knowledge of PPAP, Quality Plans, FAIRs and 8D investigations
Strong Excel skills and project management capability
Excellent communication, influencing and leadership skills
