Locum Resident Consultant Paediatrician (Maternity Cover 12 month FTC)
Full Time 10PAs. Applications invited for Resident Consultant Paediatrician with optional subspecialty interest. Substantive full‑time post (10 Pa). Part‑time/job share option considered on request. Seeking innovative, enthusiastic Consultant Paediatrician to join our department with experience in level 2 Neonates. Kingston Hospital has an overall CQC rating of Outstanding. Main Duties of the Job
Consultant led care in a busy District General Hospital with a substantial Neonatal Unit. Provide supervision for junior and nursing staff 24/7. Work 7 nights in a 6‑week rolling rota with 6 resident consultants, remainder in outpatient clinics, Paediatric Ambulatory Unit or level 2 NNU. Rota includes 2 weeks off in every 6‑week block.

Person Specification
Essential
* Full GMC Registration (or eligibility to obtain)
* MRCPCH or equivalent
* CCT in Paediatrics and on GMC's Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of the interview, or confirmed eligibility for Specialist Registration
* Newborn Life Support (NLS) certification
* Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) certification
* Wide range of paediatric experience including acute paediatrics and neonatology in a tertiary centre at middle grade or above
* Competency in Paediatric procedures
* Competency in Neonatal procedures
* Awareness and understanding of clinical governance
* Experience in management appropriate to experience
* Demonstrable commitment and ability to teach and train undergraduates and junior doctors
* Experience of clinical audit
* Demonstrate leadership skills within a multidisciplinary team
* Ability to motivate staff, facilitate appropriate changes in clinical practice, and work as part of a team
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enthusiasm and approachability
* Commitment to continuing professional development and clinical governance
Desirable
* Higher degree e.g., MD/PhD/MBA
* Instructor for NLS/APLS
* Qualification in Medical Education
* Good experience in child safeguarding, serious case review/IMR
* Evidence of specific interest in ambulatory paediatrics and/or neonatology
* Evidence of any subspecialty interest
* Attended management training course
* Knowledge of finance/budgets
* Completed 'Train the Trainers' course or equivalent in education and training
* Relevant research articles in peer‑reviewed journals
