Role Profile
Our Automation teams deliver projects in various industries including Nuclear, Oil & Gas, Food & Beverage, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Energy/Renewables, Data Centres and Utilities. Throughout Chesterfield, Fareham and Warrington we use technologies such as Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, AVEVA, Ignition, PLC, HMI, SCADA, MES, Batch, Functional Safety, OT Cyber Security and Industry 4.0.
Key Responsibilities
* Take full responsibility for the successful technical delivery of complete project solutions to agreed scope, budget and timeline.
* Allocate tasks to team members, supervise progress and advise the project manager on risks and issues.
* Work cooperatively with the Project Manager and engineering team to ensure smooth project progress throughout the lifecycle.
Key Activities
* Technical delivery of projects and support to the Project Manager in scope and risk management.
* Task allocation and progress monitoring for the engineering team.
* Ensure adherence to technical, quality and company procedures.
* Identify opportunities, variations, reusable modules and standardisations.
* Prototype new technologies and support training and mentoring of engineers.
* Provide Health and Safety leadership by example.
Functions
* Assist in sales to project hand‑over, quality plan development and procurement lists.
* Peer review documents, conduct site surveys and design studies.
* Develop FDS, DDS, test specifications, module code, SCADA scripts and site work documentation.
* Undertake full integration testing (CFAT, SAT), installation, commissioning and observation of variations.
Experience & Qualifications
* Full project life cycle experience from specification through design, development, testing and on‑site commissioning.
* Detailed design documentation delivery.
* Hands‑on delivery of PLC and SCADA systems.
* Understanding of control panels, electrical installation and instrumentation solutions.
* Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control Systems or related discipline.
* Chartered Engineer or working towards professional registration.
Desirable:
* Experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, AVEVA or Ignition PLC/SCADA.
* MQTT, IoT Systems, historians and database implementation.
* Ethernet network design, IT hardware & software, virtualised platforms (VMware, ESXi).
* OT Cyber Security, Functional Safety and industrial protocols (OPC, IEC 61850, Profinet, Modbus, etc.).
