Phlebotomist and Nursing Team Administrator
Working under the direction of thelead nurse and as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, the post holderwill be responsible for performing venepuncture, as requested by the clinicalteam, to the entitled patient population.In addition, the Phlebotomist will be expected to support the nursingteam on an as required basis.
Phlebotomy training will be considered for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
This role has a dual purpose to support patients requiring blood tests and also to perform administration duties for the nursing and health care teams across both sites.
The administration duties will ensure the smooth running of clinics and processes for the patients and the team.

Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the Phlebotomist andadministrator. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out othertasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffinglevels:
a. Obtainingpatient consent for the collection of a blood sample
b. Performingvenepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
c. Maintainingaccurate patient records on the clinical IT system
d. Thecorrect labelling, packaging and storing of samples
e. Effectiveuse of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies
f. Ensuringsamples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
g. Maintainingan effective liaison with the NHS Trust laboratory staff
h. Workingcollaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary forpatient related matters
i. Producingdaily printed blood forms for clinics, ensuring the requests are verify ifrequired by the GP or requester
j. Supportingthe patient population by calling patients who are booked in to long termcondition clinics ensuring DNA response is low.
k. Supportingpatients who require blood tests by monitoring their take up of appointmentbooking links. Ensuring safety netting of tests.
l. Responsiblefor ordering of all consumables related to the nursing teams work andensuring correct and appropriate stock levels are achieved to ensure zerowastage.
m. Providingday to day administration and rota support to the lead nurse, ensuringclinics are well managed, amendments or changes made as required.
n. Providingadministration support to the lead nurse, for meetings and appraisals.Producing minutes of meetings and maintaining document management for thepractice.
