The Role & Key Responsibilities
From your first day with us, you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.
It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm, and keep people safe.
The purpose of the role is to work as part of a team processing pay for approximately 4,000 Surrey Police Officers and Staff on a monthly basis. To provide expert advice and guidance on payroll queries, ensuring all payments of salaries, allowances, and expenses comply with current statutory and legislative requirements, Police Regulations, and Surrey Police terms and conditions.
To be successful, you will hold a formal qualification and have considerable experience working in a payroll department, prioritizing conflicting demands, and responding appropriately to queries. Proficiency in payroll software (preferably EPayfact) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is required.
Skills & Experience
* Substantial experience in a Payroll environment, with an understanding of principles, practices, and legislation requirements.
* Good analytical skills for analyzing data related to individual pay, pensions, and employment history.
* Experience in dealing with customers at all levels, with techniques for effective communication both in person and over the phone. Ability to build good rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong IT skills, with a focus on spreadsheets, and a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy. Flexibility and ability to learn new IT systems as required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
* Experience of supervision, with the ability to prioritize and delegate appropriately.
