job Title: Process Engineer – Design & Documentation
Location: Durham
Type: Contract (Initial 6 months)
Blackfield Associates is proud to support a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing company in their search for a Process Engineer to join their team on an initial 6-month contract in Durham.
This role is not a standard process engineering role—it is focused on technical design documentation and the ability to challenge, guide, and direct design packages and commissioning strategies during capital project execution.
Key responsibilities include:
* Understand, review and challenge technical design documentations for facility layouts, equipment designs, P&IDs, PFDs, URS and HAZOP studies
* Act as a technical authority on design documentation during the project lifecycle
* Provide guidance to cross-functional teams on C&Q strategy
What does the right candidate need?
* 5 years+ experience in process engineering with the Pharmaceutical or Biotech industry
* Chemical engineering degree
* Deep understanding of technical documentation used in facility, layout and equipment design, such as:
* P&IDs
* PFDs
* URS
* HAZOPs studies
* Understanding of C&Q principles
* The ability to critically evaluate engineering drawings and documentation to ensure the design is fit for purpose and compliant
* Experience with filling lines and packaging equipment is an advantage
