We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join our team.
The successful candidate will be involved in all things Health & Safety at Companies House, ensuring that the organisation continues to maintain high levels of Heath & Safety whist being responsible for the strategic development of Health & Safety.

You will be aligned to our Cardiff office, where you will be expected to attend at least 3 times a week. Please see the section 'Where will you be working?' for more information.
* Responsible for the strategic development of Health & Safety, building organisational capability and maturity and embedding Health & Safety including Fire and First Aid into operational processes.
* Providing visible leadership for the Health & Safety profession, role modelling positive behaviours, communicating key messages and providing a voice for the profession.
* Establishing and maintaining a clear governance framework and reporting regime aligned to Health & Safety best practice, including relationships to internal and external governance bodies.
* Influencing key business discussions and decisions related to Health & Safety; driving collaboration between policy and delivery.
* Providing advice and assurance to the Head of Estates for HEALTH & SAFETY including Fire and First Aid, with regular reporting at Board level.
* Operating as a member of the Estates leadership team, role modelling exemplar behaviours and living the Companies House values.
* Promoting a positive Health & Safety culture throughout Companies House.
* Developing and supporting the Health & Safety and Fire strategies and risk assessments.
* Ensuring that the organisation continues to maintain high levels of Heath & Safety including building excellent relationships with the GPA and being an active member of the Building User Group supporting the GPA as the outgoing and intelligent client.
* Working closely with HR Business Partners
* Developing and maintaining Health & Safety management systems and compliance with external audits
* Carry out accident investigation in a timely manner to ensure legal compliance with RIDDOR.
* Ensure that the principles of Management System for Health and Safety (ISO45001) are adhered to, and ensuring ALL policies and procedures such as risk assessment are still suitable and sufficient to ensure the safety of ALL CH staff and contractors engaged by CH.
* Manage furniture supply contract ensuring that appropriate Occupation Health equipment is sourced and delivered to the office or the home in a timely manner.
* Be a key H&S Committee stakeholder, recommending action and providing Executive updates as required.
* Work closely with Trade Unions to identify and take forward H&S issues and actions
* Keeping abreast of new or pending changes in legislation which would likely have an impact on CH business, adjusting activity accordingly
* Take part in objective setting with Head of Estates, providing sound rationale and advice on actions, building tasks and action plans and a programme of work.
* Work closely with HR colleagues to streamline processes for Occupational Health referrals, to ensure that recommendations are suitable and available, challenging to ensure solutions are cost effective as well as relevant, balancing budgets and requirements.
* Align activity to GPA requirements as landlord in a practical way.

Skills:
Inter-personal skills and communication at all levels within the business.
Have good problem-solving skills in difficult situations.
Good planning and organisational skills including good time management skills.
Ability to train staff at all levels within CH.
Have the skills to work under pressure and remain calm in stressful situations.
Ability to carry out H&S Audits as required by internal OR External bodies (DBT)
Knowledge:
Good knowledge of H&S Management system and Risk Registers
Knowledge of internal partners and how they impact H&S decisions and spending.
Have the knowledge of the likely impact any H&S decisions have on individuals and the business.
Knowledge of any impending changes in UK Legislation which could impact on the business.
Expertise:
Interpretation of Legislation.
Report writing for internal and external interested parties.
Need to be able to prioritise actions and spend to ensure legal compliance.
Qualifications and Certifications
We're looking for a Health & Safety Manager with the below qualifications and certifications and/or equivalent and demonstrable experience and a willingness to work towards:
NEBOSH Diploma OR working towards completing the NEBOSH Diploma.
IOSH certification.
Basic teaching/ training qualification such as PTLLS. Internal Auditing qualification such as ISO 45001 of HSG 65.
