An opportunity has arisen for a Tax Accountant to join our existing Tax team as we launch our new Finance system – a major milestone in the wider L&Q Transformation Programme.
L&Q’s in-house Tax Team manages the tax affairs of the L&Q Group, ensuring alignment with its charitable and commercial goals. Responsibilities include preparing and filing tax returns with HM Revenue & Customs, providing tax advice, and supporting the business on various tax matters.
Reporting to the Tax Manager, you will support the Head of Tax and the Tax Manager in managing the group’s tax affairs.
Main responsibilities include:
* Documenting, analyzing, and reporting VAT exceptions and errors.
* Processing requests for new accounts, ensuring correct setup according to the Tax Value Matrix in the new ERP system.
* Advising departments on VAT procedures, recovery, and tax calculation in the ERP system.
* Analyzing tax accounting entries for VAT returns, preparing reports for review, and ensuring timely submission to HMRC.
* Reconciling VAT returns with general ledgers.
* Supporting external audits with relevant tax information.
* Assisting with corporation tax returns and quarterly payments.
* Responding to tax queries from colleagues, with guidance from the Tax Manager.
We seek candidates with strong interpersonal and organizational skills, flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Ideal candidates will have:
* Professional accounting or tax qualification.
* Knowledge of VAT principles, including partial exemption, and experience with VAT returns and reconciliations.
* Experience with Unit4 ERP system is highly desirable.
* Excellent numerical, analytical, and Excel skills.
* Attention to detail and data analysis skills.
* Confident communication skills at all levels.
* Self-motivation, independence, and good time management.
