Overview
To support the Progression Team in delivering a high-quality programme of work experience, careers education, and personal development activities for students. This role plays a key part in fostering student engagement and progression by coordinating opportunities including school liaison, employer partnerships, and volunteering, with specific responsibility for the work experience programme. The postholder will ensure effective administration, recording, and reporting of related activity, helping students develop their skills, confidence, and aspirations beyond the classroom.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate the administration and compliance of all work experience (WEX) placements, including maintaining databases, supporting risk assessments, and liaising with students, employers, and staff.
* Support the planning and delivery of careers and progression events such as fairs, talks, and workplace visits, working closely with the wider Progression Team.
* Act as a support for school liaison, supporting transition activities and promoting the college to prospective students through engagement events and visits as required by the Admissions Officer.
* Maintain accurate digital records and reporting tools for all areas of responsibility, ensuring up-to-date tracking of student placements, participation, and impact through UniFrog, Vista and other relevant systems.
* Provide clear and accessible guidance to students, parents, employers, and staff on work experience, volunteering and wider progression opportunities.
* Build and sustain positive relationships with local employers, organisations, and placement providers to develop meaningful opportunities for students.
* Contribute to college-wide events that support student development, including social enterprise, volunteering initiatives and national campaigns.
* Collaborate with other student support teams to promote equality of opportunity and inclusive access to all activities.

* Undertake any other reasonable duties required by the Director for Learning: Admissions, Progression & Engagement.
* Educated to Level 3 or equivalent.
* Willingness to undertake relevant CPD and training.
* Experience in an administrative or support role, ideally within education or youth services.
* Skill of working with young people or employers in a professional setting.
* Knowledge of organising events, placements or engagement activities.
* Experience of handling sensitive data or student information securely.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with students, staff, employers, and external partners.
* Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail.
* Able to remain calm and professional under pressure or when handling unexpected issues.
* Confident in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and able to learn new digital systems.
* Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare basic reports.
* Able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Able to use discretion and initiative when handling issues with students or placements.
* Familiarity with work experience risk assessment procedures.
* Understanding of the value of work experience, volunteering, and careers education for young people.
* Dealing with issues perceptively and appropriately whilst protecting the reputation and brand of the college.
* A sense of humour appropriate to working in a young person-centred environment.
* An understanding of the issues facing providers of post-16 education and the needs of those engaged in the process: students, staff and parents.
* Experience of liaison work with external agencies.
* Committed to principles of promoting safeguarding, child protection and Prevent for young people.
* An understanding and application of legal principles in the workplace such as EDI, H&S and GDPR.
