Job Role: Transport Manager
Location: Bolton
Reporting to: Warehouse Director
Salary: £35,000 - £37,500 depending on skills and experience
Hours of Work: Contracted 42.5 hours per week – Mon to Fri – 10am – 6pm
Job Summary
To safely and effectively manage drivers, fleet, 3rd party logistics providers, budgets, IT and other resources in a customer focused and cost-efficient manner to meet business requirements and support profitable growth. This role will report directly to the Warehouse Director, overseeing approx. 30 drivers and 3 administrative staff while managing multiple 3rd party relationships with providers such as DX, DPD, and Parcelforce.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
1. Manage the routing of the vehicle effectively.
2. Ensure all communication devices are in use and utilized correctly.
3. Oversee cost control and KPI performance, actively seeking to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
4. Manage 3PL providers by controlling expenditure and ensuring service excellence.
5. Implement controls and procedures to manage all aspects of customer service and communication.
6. Understand and appreciate customer requirements to exceed service expectations.
7. Maintain knowledge of transport legislation and best practices.
8. Ensure adherence to Health & Safety regulations and procedures.
9. Conduct safe vehicle operational checks.
10. Plan driver resources strategically to maximize capacity and reduce costs.
11. Undertake ad-hoc projects and other reasonable duties as required.
12. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes and customer experience.
13. Be responsible for personal health and safety and that of colleagues.
14. Work in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations.
15. Maintain confidentiality of materials accessed during employment.
16. Implement the Equal Opportunities Policy in daily activities.

1. Competency in Excel, Word, and Transport Routing.
