Job Description:
Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (Invasion Ecology)
Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in freshwater invasion ecology? Do you want to further your career at one of the UK's leading research-intensive universities?
Biological invasions are a key driver of global change, causing ecosystem change, biodiversity loss, and economic burden. Understanding factors that influence the impact of invasive species is a global research priority. Current methods have limitations due to geographic and invasion stage variability. This project aims to develop scalable, trait-based methodologies to better understand, predict, and manage biological invasions, as part of a Future Leaders Fellowship.
This role requires laboratory, field, and modelling approaches to analyze the complexity of invasive species impacts. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing lab and field campaigns in freshwater systems, with knowledge of eco-evolutionary dynamics, invasion ecology, and freshwater climate change. Fieldwork may be conducted abroad in countries such as South Africa, Canada, Zambia, Turkey, or Indonesia for up to four weeks. Experience in coordinating international fieldwork and expertise in stable isotope analysis or large-scale experimental design in aquatic labs are desirable.
