Principal Quantity Surveyor – Executive level
Location: Preston (Mixture of home, office and client sites)
Contract: Permanent • Full-time with flexible working and core hours

Gleeds Energy is seeking to recruit a Principal Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding team in Preston and meet the growing demands of our clients within the defence sector. In this role, you play a critical part in the support and delivery of crucial defence-related projects.
Your day to day could sometimes involve:
* Operating with NEC forms of contract (Option A, B, C and E) as well as bespoke forms of contract
* Ensure adherence to processes and procedures for issuing works in line with contracts
* Contract administration and contract advice, ensuring obligations under contract are met
* Challenge and manage the scope of changes, highlighting any commercial impact
* Maintain awareness of key issues that can affect cost/time/quality
* Identify potential financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
* Conduct value engineering assessments to ensure cost-effective solutions without compromising quality
* Ensure that all financial obligations are settled, and payments are made

About You
Who we’re looking for
* Experience in Quantity Surveying; experience in the Nuclear / Civil engineering / Engineering sectors is desirable but not essential
* Experience or willingness to learn about mechanical and electrical industries in an infrastructure/ defence environment
* Comfortable communicating and negotiating with various levels of stakeholders
* Ideally HNC, HND or Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying / Cost Management, Construction Law, or a related discipline, or candidates with an alternative background (e.g., Engineering) may be considered
