Overview
We have a great opportunity for an Assistant Planning Manager to join our team within Vistry Cornwall South West, at our office in Exeter. As our Assistant Planning Manager, you will report to the Head of Planning and will play a key role in early site feasibility studies, acquisition planning and managing multiple simultaneous planning applications.
Responsibilities
* Assisting with the preparation of planning strategy documents.
* Maintaining the business planning tracker.
* Stakeholder and LPA engagement and managing consultant teams.
* Submittal of applications within agreed timescales to meet business targets.
* Providing detailed handovers to technical and wider delivery teams upon successful planning determinations.
* Negotiating planning conditions, S106 requirements and variations to legal agreements.
* Resolving problems in collaboration with Vistry Cornwall colleagues and projects to ensure successful delivery of schemes.
* Complying with all Group’s policies including Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
* Maintaining a high standard of professionalism and working within the core values of Vistry.
Qualifications
* Relevant experience working in a similar role within the housebuilding industry.
* Architecture, Planning or Design degree (Urban Layout, Landscape, Architectural Technology).
* Experience working for a residential house builder.
* Knowledge of the planning process and planning policy.
* Experience managing external teams and assisting with the planning process on a range of residential development schemes.
* Confidence in own ability to manage external teams.
* Capable of working under own initiative to achieve business targets.
* Resilient, positive, confident, assertive and diplomatic.
* A good communicator/listener.
* Decision making, problem solving, multi‑tasking.
* Able to work under pressure.

* Working towards MRTPI accreditation.
