The Role
To lead the day-to-day operations of the builders’ merchant yard, ensuring safe, efficient handling of materials and a high level of service to both trade and retail customers. The Yard Foreman supervises yard operatives, maintains stock control, enforces safety procedures, and supports the branch in achieving operational goals.
The Requirements

Previous experience working in a builders’ merchant or similar yard-based environment
*
Experience supervising a team or acting as a senior yard operative
*
Forklift licence (Counterbalance or Sideloader preferred)
*
Good understanding of manual handling and safe working practices
*
Ability to lead a team with confidence, fairness, and efficiency
*
Strong customer service and communication skills
*
Basic computer or handheld scanner skills for stock control systems
*
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weathers
