Therapeutic Assessment and Intervention work in partnership to support children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, along with their parents, carers, families, and educators, in self-management of presenting difficulties.
Work effectively and evidence-based with children, young people, their families, and educators to develop intervention plans and achieve agreed outcomes. Support and empower them to make informed choices about interventions, operating from an inclusive values base that recognises and respects diversity.
Accept referrals within educational settings according to local and national protocols. Conduct and record accurate risk assessments and follow clear risk management processes aligned with local procedures, safeguarding protocols, and the Local Safeguarding Board guidance. Adhere to all relevant regulations, processes, and procedures within the educational service and wider organisation, including HR policies, training, referral protocols, and emergency procedures. Support referrals for children with complex needs to appropriate services and escalate cases where needs or risks exceed scope of practice.
Provide information and support for evidence-based psychological treatments, primarily guided self-help. Manage own caseload effectively, participate in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency meetings as appropriate, and maintain clear, professional records in line with health and education protocols. Use data and records to inform decision-making.
Complete all data collection requirements. Consider issues related to transitions, education, and employment within the therapeutic process. Work collaboratively with relevant others and contribute to developing clinical or training materials, including independently developing materials within competence and under team direction.
Apply learning from training directly to practice. Prepare and present caseload information to supervisors regularly to ensure safe practice and governance. Respond to supervision and engage in personal development activities to enhance skills and practice. Disseminate research and service evaluation findings through appropriate channels.
Maintain professional standards and adhere to new guidelines and recommendations. Protect confidentiality at all times. Communicate and share safety and wellbeing risks with relevant parties to ensure safety. Regularly review objectives with supervisors, participate in appraisals, and keep professional development records current, including maintaining up-to-date knowledge of latest models and developments. Attend relevant educational opportunities aligned with professional goals.
