Overview
I am recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing business for a skilled and proactive buyer to join their procurement team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in managing the purchasing of all indirect goods while supporting operational performance and continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Responsibilities
* Reporting to the Procurement Manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring the effective sourcing, negotiation, and management of supplier relationships. You will work cross-functionally with teams across the organisation to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
* Manage the purchasing of indirect goods and services to support operational departments
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners
* Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across quality, cost, delivery, and inventory performance
* Maintain approved supplier lists and source alternative suppliers as required
* Support ERP system development relating to purchasing and supplier data
* Assist with stock control and ensure materials availability to meet business demand
* Investigate and resolve supplier quality issues and ensure commercially appropriate outcomes
* Conduct supplier negotiations and ensure consistent on-time, in-full delivery
* Liaise with internal teams on alternative product specifications and provide procurement input for customer quotations
* Provide cover for direct goods purchasing and support wider procurement team activities as needed
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience in a procurement or buyer role, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering setting
* A background in the sourcing of indirect goods and services
* Familiarity with ERP purchasing and inventory systems
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
* High attention to detail with strong administrative and organisational abilities
* Commercially minded with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
* Ideally CIPS Level 4 qualified (or equivalent experience)
