Job summary

Are you ready to make a difference? If you want to be a part of an ambitious team that continually strives to deliver outstanding clinical care to women, babies and their families then we need you! We are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic senior ATO to join our pharmacy team based at our Birmingham Women’s Hospital pharmacy site. You will support the provision of medicines to the Birmingham Women’s Hospital and also assist with administrative duties to support the Clinical Pharmacy team. The post holder will be based within the Clinical Pharmacy Team at Birmingham Women’s Hospital site but may be required to support services within the pharmacy department on the Birmingham Children’s Hospital site. Excellent communication and IT skills will be required to ensure all processes are carried out accurately and efficiently.


Responsibilities

* Lead on the day to day stock top ups to wards and departments
* Communicate closely with external stock provider
* Actively support and participate in stock management
* Chase outstanding orders and follow up on MCS issues
* Respond to priority and urgent requests
* Communicate any anticipated stock delays to the senior technician
* Support the team with administrative duties
* Support the senior technician with day to day processes
* To assist with drug alerts
* Support with medicine safe and secure storage audits

You will need to already have the NVQ 2 in Pharmacy Services and your practice be current and up to date


Qualifications

* Essential: GCSEs in English and Maths
* Essential: NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services


Knowledge, Experience and Skills

* Experience/ knowledge of stock management systems including topping up stock on wards
* Ability to move and handle heavy and awkward loads
* Experience using Microsoft Word, Access and Excel
* Experience of communicating with other teams including other health care professionals
* Understanding of the Trust Values
* Understanding of the adherence and purpose of standard operating procedures; supporting and participating in any changes to process


Desirable

* Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy
* Experience of using Pharmacy/Finance Systems such as Ascribe and Wellsky
* Experience in safe and secure medicine storage audits


Analytical and Judgement Skills

* Problem solving skills and the ability to respond to sudden unexpected demands, such as an urgent stock request
* Ability to anticipate and resolve problems before they arise
* Apply skills to support the optimisation of stock management systems and to reduce wastage
* Ability to enter data accurately, format and understand data on reports generated by Pharmacy/Finance Computer Systems
* Ability to escalate issues and know limits of own ability
