OSIL Electronics Engineer
OSIL is a leading supplier of meteorological and oceanographic (Met Ocean) equipment for offshore and coastal engineering applications. Operating on a global basis from Hampshire, UK, we offer metocean solutions through cost-effective, high quality and technically advanced equipment.
Position
The Systems Division of OSIL specialises in the design, build, commissioning and service of real-time data acquisition and monitoring systems for offshore and coastal engineering projects globally.
Due to continued growth, and in order to better serve the increasing needs of the business, we are looking to recruit an additional Electronics Engineer to assist with the design, build and maintenance of a range of products from offshore Metocean monitoring systems through to deep sea robotics.
This varied post will comprise a combination of development/ assembly work with the opportunity for overseas fieldwork. This is a challenging highly diverse role that requires a wide range of skills from electronics, integration, networking & communications (satellite, 4G/5G, LoRaWAN). Based in the UK facility the role will encompass varied responsibilities, the key aspects of which are:
* Assist with the build and integration of marine electronics for environmental monitoring/ robotics
* Design of simple PCB circuits
* Networking integrated systems
* Configuration and testing of real-time data acquisition software
* Testing and QA of systems
* Fieldwork to conduct installation, commissioning and maintenance duties
* Establish technical procedures and assist with documentation
* Take an active role in quality & HSE relating to projects
* Providing remote support to on-site clients
Position Requirements
The candidate we have in mind is inquisitive, able to think ‘outside the box’, stress resistant, has an accurate work practice and a can do hands-on mentality. The following qualifications and experience are also required:
* Electronics, Networking or Communications background (ideally at degree level or above)
* PCB Design desirable
* Experience in software/firmware development desirable
* Strong computing and IT knowledge
* Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in written service reports
* Team player
* Financial/commercial project experience is a bonus
