We are looking for an enthusiastic and patient-centred person to join our team of General Practice Assistants.
We would like an organised, enthusiastic, and patient-centred person to join our busy multi-disciplinary team. You will be part of a supportive team which includes 8 GP partners, salaried GPs, ACPs, a team of Practice Nurses and General Practice Assistants, as well as a team of PCN staff which include FCPs, Pharmacists, Wellbeing Coaches, and Care Coordinators. A supportive Management Team, Reception Team, and Administration Teams.
Main duties of the job
We ask the person in this role to:
* Work collaboratively within the practice team to meet the needs of our patients and support the delivery of policy and procedures.
* Assist the GPs, including the Duty Doctor, to review digital triage and book/signpost to the most appropriate healthcare professional.
* Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote a healthy lifestyle.
* Arrange appointments, referrals, tests, and follow-up appointments.
* Help the GP liaise with outside agencies, e.g., contacting the Duty Doctor for advice or arranging admission while the GP continues consultations.
* Perform tasks such as dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs, phlebotomy, and collecting bloods for long-term conditions.
There is a requirement to complete formal training for this role, which is the General Practice Accredited Training.

Job responsibilities
A GPA will support the GP(s) in the smooth running of clinics by performing routine administrative and clinical tasks, allowing GPs to focus on patient care.
Processing digital triage, prioritising actions for the GP, and signposting patients to other healthcare professionals such as clinical pharmacists.
Extracting necessary information from clinical letters, coding, and adding to notes.
Arranging appointments, referrals, tests, and follow-up appointments.
Preparing patients before their GP appointment, taking brief histories, and recording basic readings.
Performing urine dips, blood pressure measurements, ECGs, phlebotomy, and collecting blood samples.
Completing basic forms and core elements of forms for the GP’s approval, such as insurance, mortgage, and benefit forms.
Explaining treatment procedures to patients.
Assisting the GP in liaising with outside agencies, e.g., contacting on-call doctors for advice or admissions.
Supporting the GP with immunisations and wound care.
