Overview
We are delighted to offer the opportunity for a highly motivated and well organised individual to join the team of Medical Secretaries within Medical Oncology at York Hospital. This varied secretarial role supports Consultant Medical Oncologists and their teams with communication, administrative and secretarial tasks, while also providing support to patients and engaging with the wider clinical team and other key stakeholders such as GPs. Responding to queries in a timely manner helps maintain a responsive service. Please note that previous unsuccessful applications within the last 6 months need not apply.
Responsibilities
* Typing of clinics and general correspondence, complex diary management and provision of patient data.
* Dealing with correspondence from patients, GPs and other sources, including the scheduling of appointments, to ensure referral to treatment targets are met.
* Respond to patient queries and support the clinical team and other stakeholders as required.
* Work in a fast-paced environment, prioritising own workload and meeting strict deadlines.
Qualifications and skills
* Excellent communication skills.
* Minimum of two years’ recent secretarial/admin experience.
* Proficient typing skills, particularly audio-typing, with experience of digital dictation.
* Knowledge of medical terminology is advantageous.
* Well organised, able to prioritise workload, able to work independently and drive service improvement.
* Efficient and resilient team player with a flexible approach and willingness to learn.
