Overview

We are delighted to offer the opportunity for a highly motivated and well organised individual to join the team of Medical Secretaries within Medical Oncology at York Hospital.

This varied secretarial role supports Consultant Medical Oncologists and their teams with communication, administrative and secretarial tasks, while also providing support to our patients, assisting with their queries and concerns, and engaging with the wider clinical team and other key stakeholders such as GPs. Responding to these queries in a timely manner maintains a responsive service.

Previous unsuccessful applications within the last 6 months need not apply.


Responsibilities

The main duties will include:

* Typing of clinics and general correspondence.
* Complex diary management and provision of patient data.
* Dealing with correspondence from patients, GPs and other sources, including scheduling of appointments to ensure referral to treatment targets are met.


Qualifications and Requirements

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a minimum of two years recent secretarial/admin experience, proficient typing skills particularly in audio‑typing, and experience of digital dictation. Knowledge of medical terminology would be advantageous. To be successful in the post you must be well organised, able to prioritise your own workload in a fast‑paced environment, and work independently to meet strict deadlines. We require an efficient and resilient team player who upholds our Trust Values and has a flexible approach to work, with a willingness to learn and meet the challenges of a fast‑paced speciality to drive service improvement.
