Position Overview:
The Bid Estimator plays a critical role within the Sales Team, supporting the preparation of high-quality, commercially competitive bids. You will be responsible for developing pricing models, cost strategies, and ensuring all bid submissions are accurate, robust, and aligned with LivGreen’s commercial objectives.
Working closely with Sales, Commercial, and Purchasing teams, you will help shape proposals that are both competitive and reflective of our organisation’s standards and client requirements. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives on accuracy, enjoys collaboration across multiple teams, and wants to make a tangible impact on business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, own, and maintain a central rate card segmented by region and workstream using live data from commercial buyers and completed projects
* Lead on tender pricing to ensure submissions are commercially sound, competitive, and aligned with company objectives
* Produce draft commercial strategies for each bid, providing a framework for internal review and approval
* Liaise with the Commercial Team to validate assumptions, confirm material and labour costs, and ensure consistency pre- and post-contract
* Support the Sales Team with bid preparation, certification, and documentation, ensuring commercial elements are accurate and delivered on time
* Develop and implement costing tools and templates to improve efficiency, transparency, and consistency across bids
* Track market trends, regional variations, and supplier rates to maintain competitiveness
* Contribute to lessons learned reviews to continuously improve pricing accuracy and bid success rates
* Provide general commercial support to the Sales Team and Bid Coordinator as required
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven experience in estimating, bid pricing, or commercial support (ideally within construction, retrofit, or social housing sectors)
* Strong understanding of tender processes, contract structures, and commercial risk management
* Advanced Excel skills and experience with cost modelling or estimating software
* Excellent attention to detail and methodical approach to pricing and documentation
* Ability to work collaboratively across departments and manage multiple deadlines
* Strong communication skills, able to present commercial data clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work effectively under pressure
Team Alignment and Collaboration:
This role sits within the Sales Team, contributing directly to bid strategy and submission quality. Close collaboration with Commercial and Delivery Teams is essential to ensure accuracy, consistency, and a strong feedback loop between pre- and post-contract functions.
