We are looking for an Occupational Health Advisor, where you will lead operational delivery, shape best‑practice service models, and directly influence the wellbeing of the workforce. Working closely with the Business Strategy Lead – Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing, you will drive high‑quality advisory services, champion innovation, and ensure the Occupational Health function delivers excellence across the Council.
You will play a key part in strengthening the Council’s People Strategy, ensuring services are fast, accurate, compliant and aligned with strategic goals. This role requires leadership, clinical expertise and service development, giving you the platform to enhance self‑service options, manage complex cases, and embed professional standards across a dynamic Occupational Health team.
Key responsibilities include:
* Operational leadership – delivering high‑quality Occupational Health services, managing clinical caseloads, and ensuring compliance with legislation, NMC and FOM guidelines.
* Service improvement – developing policies, enhancing systems, horizon‑scanning for legislative changes, and embedding innovative best practice.
* Stakeholder support – providing expert advice, building strong internal and external relationships, and supporting managers with case management and wellbeing solutions.
* Team development – coaching, mentoring and leading Occupational Health staff to maintain exceptional professional standards.
* Clinical delivery – undertaking assessments, health surveillance, sickness absence referrals, and workplace visits to support employee wellbeing.
