Primary Purpose of Role
We are looking for Engineering Delivery Managers to join the Central Engineering team to support complex projects across the UK business and multiple domains.
The successful candidate will report to the UK Systems Engineering Director to define, support, and/or commence execution of systems engineering and engineering management activities on various projects. Projects may require external help to maintain or regain schedule/technical baseline or additional resources to drive success.
The role will lead and/or guide the project/programme engineering team, focusing on deploying a systems approach, developing efficient working methods, and team development.
Additionally, the role may involve leading project engineering activities, participating in tiger team reviews for bids and projects, balancing engineering excellence with practical delivery skills.
Successful candidates will likely transfer into a permanent role within a business unit, so mobility and location flexibility are essential.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
* Collaborate within and across teams in a matrixed environment.
* Define and manage solution engineering activities, including resource identification and governance.
* Specify and execute systems engineering management and control processes.
* Develop and maintain management plans such as Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) and Through Life Management Plans (TLMP).
* Build and maintain customer/stakeholder relationships, understanding their needs and expectations.
* Define the system development cycle, practices, and tools based on project constraints.
* Ensure consistency of engineering processes, organize co-engineering, and approve solution components.
Leadership Skills
* Engage and influence stakeholders effectively.
* Work in multi-stakeholder environments to set clear goals.
* Promote an open environment for sharing ideas and innovation.
* Build strong stakeholder relationships and collaborate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
Knowledge and Skills Required
* Understanding of systems engineering lifecycle, practices, and tools.
* Experience in change management activities with multiple stakeholders.
* Experience delivering system-level programs in land, sea, or air domains.
* Sound judgment on benefits versus risks.
* Knowledge of requirements management tools, specifically DOORS.
* Experience in executing SE lifecycle processes, including requirements elicitation, system and interface specifications, testing, and trade studies.
